Roll Cage
Here you can see some pictures from my home made roll cage. Since I had a YJ tub and stock roll bar, I took off the front two bars that attach to the windshield. That leaves behind two stub bars on the hoop behind the seats. From those stubs I bent up a top hoop going out to the windshield then across it and back to the passenger side stub. Sort of a large "U" shape. I did it this way since I felt it would be structurally more sound. I then welded in some support bars from the floor up along the dash and windshield (following the curve) and to the top hoop. In these first few pictures you can see just that. Remember to leave enough room for your doors (hard doors come into the tub farther than soft doors) and for the windshield bolt (incase you ever want to fold the windshield down).
Here is a shot from the front of the Jeep and also the finished product. I also welded in some smaller tube for bracing and hand holds. Across the top I have two spreaders that are equally placed (about 15" apart) and also one dash bar that sits right above the steering column and just below the windshield wiper motor. The steel is just tube steel I picked up from the local machine shop in town. I think it's 2" OD. It's just slightly smaller than the stock tubing that is there.
