New Cage

Ok, here is the new integrated cage I am building.  I wanted to get the front of the cage done before I started the rear 4 link setup.  So I would know where I could put the link mounts and what not.

The garage after some organization.  Hard to believe there was a jeep under all that clutter.

Now onto the good stuff, bending steel.  Oh wait, I have to cut some of the body off.

Ok, now on to bending some steel.  Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!
Ok, how is that?  I had this crazy idea of trying to keep as much of the body as I could.
Yah, right!  Hack that sucker off!!!

There is what is left of the body with the "B" pillar welded in.  The bender is in the background.  It's a Pro Tools 105HD with 1.75" die set.  The tubing I am using is 1.75 OD x .120 wall DOM.

A shot of me standing next to a hard days work.  Here you can see we have the "A" pillar in with the lower rails welded in as well.  And also the new bender.  Have I told you how much I like the bender.  Well it ROCKS!  Hopefully after I get the jeep together I will convert it to full hydro.

Just another shot of the days work.

Day two of bending steel.  Have the cross bar in for the seat mounting.  Here I am test fitting the seats, have to make sure I can fit a tasty beverage in there.

The top two pictures here are just getting the seats into position.  Upper left shows the back brace bar.  While the lower picture we actually have the drivers seat mounted up.  I used the original seat sliders which I bolted to the seat and then welded to the cage.  So I have some adjustability in the seating position.

That last picture shows some of the bracing I put in for the mounting brackets.  Now that I have the front of the tube work done I can move onto the 4 link setup.

Once I had the 4 link done I turned my attention back to this cage.  I then started on the rear portion of the tube work.

There it is finished with the tubing portion.  Next will be putting the rear panel and side skirts on it, and the floor for the rear portion.

And that is how it sits as off now.  I am currently in the middle of a kitchen remodel, so the jeep has been moved outside to make room for lumber.  What is this crazy stuff called wood?  I don't seem to be a fan of it.
