This is the heep as of now, finally got it
done enough to wheel, and as you can see, I have changed the color scheme on
it and this website. Figured it was time for a change. This was
taken on the trail Jack Hammer in Johnson Valley. It preformed pretty
good, still has some small issues to take care of, but it made it through
the entire trail pretty easily. |
Here we are towing the heep and the things
the movers could not take with them in our cross country trip. I was
transferred from MCAS New River, NC to Camp Pendleton, CA. In this
picture we are at the painted desert in Arizona, very awesome views.
We also saw some of the petrified forest there also. |

The truck with the new Leer high back camper shell.
This thing is nice! Really big, plenty of room in the back for the
mutts and our gear. I am very pleased with the quality of it. |
I just put some new tires on the truck. Nitto Terra
Grapplers, 285/75R16's Load range D. Rides a lot smoother than the smaller
245 load range E's, I didn't think there was that big of a difference in
ride quality, but it is a huge difference. I am driving a completely
different truck, a lot smoother. |
Here it is currently. I have the 1/4 elliptical
installed and most of the tube work done. What I have left is running
the brake and fuel lines, setup the rear disc brakes, steering, exhaust, and
the flooring. |
This is what it was like before I started the quarter elliptical rear suspension. My plans have changed a few times during this install. This was a house we rented for about a year, we were looking to buy and it took us awhile, but this one had a nice garage. I
have the rear quarters cut out and the openings for the LED tail lights. Also will be moving the rear axle back 4-6 inches in the
process. So stay tuned for the new build up of this heep. |

Here is my new trailer behind the tow beast, I just finished unloading my jeep at my new house. The
trailer is a Superior Trailers of Georgia, Inc. 18' 3 ton car hauler. It has a 16' flat deck with a 2' dovetail, two 3500lb axles
both with electric trailer brakes, and fold up ramps. This trailer is really well made and I am more than pleased with it. |
Here is my new tow rig. It's a 2003 F-250 Super Duty, Super Cab, 6.0L Diesel, 5 speed Automatic, XLT, 4x4. This Torque Shift automatic is a
dream to drive compared to my old stick shift. The Super Cab is just an extended cab with 4 doors, so the back part opens on both sides. The
power is so much more with this one also. |
Here is another shot of it. The side mirrors have blinkers and running lights on them. It only has 500 miles on it. Whoo hoo my first new vehicle. |
Here is the Jeep awaiting on the 401 from the shop. I have the D60 and 14 bolt in. Still need to put the steering on, drill the holes in the
flat skid plate and run brake & fuel lines. I also plan on cutting out the rear tub and welding the fenders to the hood. |
This was my first tow rig. A 1999 F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 7.3L Diesel, 4x2, 6 speed manual, XLT. Was a very good truck, towed like a dream
and was great on mileage. I sold it in Sept. 2003. The six speed manual really started to get to me and the whole 2 wheel drive thing
killed me. No, not because I'm a 4x4 nut, but because I would go home to New York in the winters and get stuck at least once with this
thing. And I couldn't even get on wet grass with something on the trailer. ugh! I need 4 wheel drive! |
Here is the beast right before I went to the 2001 Dixie Run. The mutt "CJ", was wondering around so I made him pose also. |
Here is the pumpkin after I was called late one night to get a Toyota Land Cruiser unstuck. Unfortunately, I too got stuck and we had to call
another Jeep friend out to get us. |
The jeep with it's first trophy, 1st place - truck class - best of show at the 1st Annual MCAS New River Car & Truck Show, with my dog "CJ". |
Here is another Jeep I owned for a short time. It's a 1963 Willys Jeep CJ-5, mostly stock and its solid. |
Another shot of the Willys, she was my daily driver for about 6 months. |
The Willys with "the Great Pumpkin" in the background awaiting on its shortened rear d60. |
Here is the New Jeep seeing it's first snow fall. Right here in North Carolina. |
This was my donor jeep, it's a 1978 Wagoneer with a 401, Turbo 400, and 44's front and rear. I used the 401, steering, and the front axle from it. The pig cost me
$800, but its loaded. I also used the York air compressor and the AM/FM/CB that came stock from AMC. |
This was a car I purchased to make the long road trips home to New York in. It's a 1991 Mazda Rx-7. I know it's an import, but hey, it is a 7. I did
like the performance of this thing, to bad at every 100,000 miles you have to replace the apex seals. Instead of doing all that, I just sold it. |
Unfortunately this is the ole gal after some idiot (NOT me!) rolled her while towing her home. I had thrown a rod out the side of the block. |
Another picture of the nightmare that happened. That is a friend of mine, Chris's (Elusive) jeep in the background. |
Here I am in Tellico July 4th, 1999. Was playing around off of the main road up there (1). |
Here she is, '84 CJ-7, this was in her hay-day.. all nice and clean, one of the few times.. lol.. this was taken sometime in 1998 in the Croatan National Forest
in good ole NC. |
And this is her after a typical outing in that Croatan National Forest. Don't worry
you tree huggin' hippie lovers.. those are specifically designated trails that we use. |
Here I am up near Syracuse, NY for Christmas one year, just had to play out in the back fields a little. |
This was my last off-road trip in California, was taken up in Big Bear (late Oct. '96) and yes that is snow falling. |
My 1988 Toyota, which I owned for six years while I lived in California. Sold it when I was transferred out here, NC. It had a 6" Superlift, 33x15
Super Swamper TSX's, fully loaded, custom stereo, dual shocks, HD torsion bars, matched injectors, and tons more. |
This was my first car after high school. It is a 1976 Firebird Formula, I had to do some extensive rust repair in the form of putting in new rear quarter panels and front
fenders, which were donated by a Trans Am. So it was unique in the fact that it had T/A fenders (with the air scoops), on a Formula (air scoops on the hood).
The color is AMC Firecracker Red!!! GO AMC!!! |
