Johnson Valley

10/15 - 10/17/08

Trails run: "Sledge Hammer", "Big Johnson" and "Claw Hammer"

We got to Johnson Valley, CA Thursday morning around 0100. When we got the rigs up and running in the morning we headed out to Sledge Hammer. Shortly into that trail my front leaf spring was bending again really bad, so we put two hose clamps around it and some duct tape and went back to camp for a little better fix. I welded some bolts across where the limiting clamps were straightened and a short piece of chain around the temporary fix for safety measures. After that we went and ran Big Johnson to test it out. It seemed to work good so we were doing the harder lines by the end of that trail. After some dinner in town we went out and did a night run up Claw Hammer.

Friday morning I took the valve cover off and cleaned it and tried resealing it. It was leaking bad out of the corners. Then I tightened it down a tad too much and when I started it up, the roller rockers punched holes across the top of it. So my wheeling was done.

A very AWESOME trip and again, I want to thank Nick, Brian, Larry and the others that wheeled with me!! A fantastic bunch of degenerates.
