Dixie Run 2002

Well, we made it to another Dixie Run at the Tellico OHV area in Hanging Dog, NC. This was by far the best organized event we have been too. They really did get it right this year. We arrived plenty early on Monday night and stayed on till Sunday morning, even though the event is officially Friday - Sunday. We like getting there early to have the trails to ourselves. But, even with the large turn out, we did do an organized run on Friday, and it was well managed. We didn't slow down much, unless it was for our group, and our trail leader was great.
These first sets of pictures is from Tuesdays run. We came in on trail 4, then went up School bus and came down trail 3, with Squeeze rock at the top of it.
Wednesday, we hook up with some fellow jeepers from across the campground, and decided to go up Lower 2 then on to Upper 2. Most of them whimped out on Lower 2, but one, Steve took his CJ-5 with 33" up it and did quite well, especially since it was the Jeeps maiden voyage. Steve had to turn around and head home, since he broke his rear leaf shims/cross bolts when he spun his axle.
We all hooked up afterwards and continued on up Upper 2. There we had one YJ in our group break his D35, imagine that.
Here are a few pictures from that day.
This next set up pictures are from our Fridays organized trail run. We went in trail 4, then up 11 (Guard Rail & Helicopter Pad), and then came out trail 3 again. I don't think we will ever do trail 3 again, it's just so damn long and boring, just bumpy enough to aggravate you.
Well when we got to Guard Rail, it started to rain on us, so by the time we hit Helicopter Pad, only our trail leader and Chris attempted it.
On to the pictures!
